The Digital Spray Coating solution is a carbon black, solvent-based Laser Ablative Mask Solution (LAMS) that has a combination of solvents optimized for spray coating of Flexographic Photopolymer Sleeves. To allow high coverage at low coat weights of the coating, the carbon black chosen is a low particle size, non-migratory pigment. The Spray coating solution is formulated to atomize well and provide uniform coverage with just about any type of commercial spray equipment, including conventional air, air-assisted airless and regular airless, to coat a very uniform, dry coating on the photopolymer sleeves. The solution is optimized to coat approximately 3-4 m of the mask coating having an optical density (OD) of about 4.0. In most applications, two thinner coats of spray are recommended to overcome pinholing in the coating. The solvents are optimized to achieve a smooth, high gloss surface after spray, without having a deleterious effect on the photopolymer (e.g. orange peel, cracking, swelling etc.).
